In preparation for attending classes please see the information below:
My puppy missed out on socialisation due to Covid-19 and now we are struggling with their behaviour. Will classes help?
Classes are not always suitable for young dogs that have developed issues around people and/or other dogs. In some circumstances this could make the problem worse. However puppies can sometimes be accommodated on courses in these circumstances and each puppy/young dog will be considered on an individual basis. It may be beneficial to attend a 1-2-1 session prior to joining a course. Please get in contact for more information.
Who can attend the class?
Anyone can attend aged 5 and above. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. Please let your instructor know if you are planning on bringing more than 3 additional family members as space at the hall is limited.
Why must children be aged 5 or over?
Young children find concentrating for long periods difficult particularly when there are other cute puppies in the class! Therefore in order for you and other class attendees to get the most out of the course we ask that younger children do not attend.
I am in a vulnerable group am I OK to attend classes?
You are welcome to attend class at your own risk if you feel comfortable doing so. Classes will be ventilated and owners spaced out as much as possible however mask wearing is now optional for attendees. At this time it is recommended for your own safety that you do not attend classes if you are within a vulnerable group and have not yet been fully vaccinated. However you can still attend at your own risk. If you are concerned about attending classes please get in contact.
Do I have to wear a mask during the class?
Mask wearing is now optional. If you plan to wear a mask during class it would be beneficial to get your puppy used to seeing you wearing a mask before attending.
How will training classes be different from before?
Classes are now running similar to pre-covid times. You will be provided with your own set of hand sanitiser and dog training treats & windows may be open for ventilation purposes.
Will my puppy still get to play with other puppies?
The puppy school syllabus now focuses on calm on lead greetings between puppies rather than puppy play. Puppy play with other puppies is not always the best way to learn about play for your puppy. We recommend you instigate short play sessions with older calm dogs to help socialise your puppy with other dogs.
Do you have toilet facilities?
Yes toilet facilities will be available during class. Please ask if you need to leave the room for any reason and I will open the door for you.
Is there Disabled access to the hall?
Yes there is a ramp providing access for wheelchairs at the rear of the hall. Please get in contact if you have any additional needs in order to attend classes.
Can I take my puppy outside if they need a wee?
Yes you will still be able to take your puppy outside if they need the toilet during class although indoor accidents are not a problem. Please do not leave the hall when puppies are off lead in case they follow you!
